About
Raina Niessen

I have an approach that is open and honest. I understand that a transition to
end of life requires mental, spiritual, physical, environmental, emotional, and
practical support for individuals and their families. With extensive work experience with adults in hospice care, I have a respect and a deep understanding of how they cope and still find fulfillment, despite limitations.
As a doula, I feel honoured to spend such precious and intimate moments supporting a final, peaceful transition in a manner of their choosing.
In addition to working with clients of all ages and backgrounds, I specialize in working with marginalized and oppressed groups. I also have experience with M.A.I.D. I both advocate for and promote self-advocacy among clients, in medical and personal contexts, where a lack of knowledge or respect may be negatively affecting their care and treatments .
I walk individuals through the process of dying to make their journey as dignified as possible. I will support, educate and coach individuals and their families as they find the practical, emotional and spiritual aspects of death and dying.
